With the objective of forming a new, independent in all respects, not hierarchically organsised orchestra, the musicians of the New German Symphony gave their debut in October 2001 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

This first concert was hailed very positively in all the media. "…structuring predominately ... showing lucency and energy ... with pure spirit the young ensemble managed to radiate the charm of great music with only few players". (Badische Neueste Nachrichten)

Both then and now the orchestra plays without a conductor. Interpretation and phrasing is altogether the work of every musician himself. None of them is replaceable for the whole and each works as a soloist. So the frequently encountered routine in the concert halls is giving way to inspiration and spontaneity. For their first musical tour, the orchestra chose a program that we all know from recordings and broadcasting which the group performs with the immediacy and brio of a live concert in a new way.
